Detailed Itinerary – 14 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport.

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our professional guide/driver for briefing about your safari after which you’ll be transferred to check-in at your hotel at either Serena Hotel or Cassia Lodge to prepare for the following day’s journey.

Day 2: Tour Jinja City

After breakfast, depart from your hotel for Jinja through Lugazi the sugarcane town. Your first stop will be at Ssezibwa falls for you to have a chance to see the spiritual healing waters. You’ll then continue to Mabira forest, the largest rain forest in Uganda. Here, there are different species of monkeys like the grey checked mangabey and the red-tailed monkey as well as birds, butterflies and different kinds of plants. From Mabira, drive to Jinja town for lunch-there is variety of cuisines from which you may choose. After lunch, proceed to the River Nile for a boat ride and you sail up to the point where John Speke discovered the source of the Nile River. You will then go for a tour through the crafts and souvenir shops for shopping then leave for Kampala. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.

Day 3: Rhino Tracking at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary

Have breakfast early morning and start your journey to Murchison Falls. On your way, you will have a stop at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking then continue to Masindi town passing through traditional home steads. Dinner and overnight at Masindi Hotel.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking

After an early morning breakfast, embark on the journey to Murchison Falls National Park. On reaching, straight go to the briefing point for Chimpanzee trekking in the Budongo forest. During this activity, you are likely to encounter primates like the Colobus, Red-tailed and Velvet monkeys, olive baboons, and the enchanting songs of the birds will keep you entertained. After the trekking experience, you will go to check-in at your lodge then have lunch. In the afternoon, visit the top of the falls for fantastic views where the Nile River water is forced through a narrow gap in the rock to go 43meters down. Retire to your lodge at Paraa Safari Lodge / Chobe Safari Lodge (Up market Accommodation), Pakuba Game Lodge / Murchison River Lodge (Midrange Accommodation).

Day 5: Game drive and Boat cruise

Wake up very early to have breakfast then start the morning game drive that lasts up to three hours and you will encounter the early risers like the Leopards, Elephants, Giraffes, Kobs, Buffalos, Bush bucks and Warthogs to mention but a few, as they go out to look for what to eat before the sun rises.  You will as well see a variety of birds. Go back for lunch at your lodge after which you will head for an afternoon boat cruise up to the foot of the River Nile.  Among the different birds that can be found along this stretch include the bee-eaters, King fishers and if lucky the rare Shoebill stock. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 6: Transfer to Hoima

Have a relaxed breakfast then proceed to the delta for another chance of viewing wildlife. From the game drive go back to the lodge for lunch, checkout and head for Hoima. Dinner and overight at Kolping Hotel.

Day 7: To Kibale National Park

Do breakfast and head for Kibale National Park, you will have a stop in Fort Portal for lunch then continue to check in at Kibale Primate Lodge / Ndali Lodge (Upmarket Accommodation) or Mountains of the moon / Chimp’s nest.

Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking, Kibale

After breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. It takes between 1 to 3hours. The forest also harbors five primate species that include the black and white colobus, red colobus, Red-tailed, Lhotse monkeys and Grey-cheeked Mangbey. There is also a number of bird species including the rare Green breasted Pita. Go back to the lodge for a relaxed lunch. Later go for a nature walk in the Bigodi wetland which is also very rewarding. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have breakfast early morning after which you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park driving through the crater lakes region. You will have a stop in Kasese for lunch continuing southwards along the foothills of Rwenzori Mountain ranges, these constitute the western rift valley which forms the boundary between Uganda and Congo. Arrive into the park and proceed with a game drive after which you will check in at Ishasha Wilderness Camp / Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury Accommodation) or Ihamba Safari Lodge (Midrange Accommodation) for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Game drive and boat cruise Queen Elizabeth National Park

Begin the day with an early morning cup of coffee then head for a game drive towards the Kasenyi plains.  During the drive, you will encounter wildlife including elephants, waterbucks, Cobs, Buffalos, Giant Forest hogs, Bushbucks, Lions, leopards and a variety of bird species. Queen Elizabeth has the highest concentration of birds with over 600 species. You will then go back to the lodge for lunch and at 02:00pm go for the boat cruise on the Kazinga channel and while on the boat, you will have views of different view of wildlife as they come to cool off from the channel waters. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 11: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have a cup of tea/coffee then visit Katwe salt lake to see how salt is locally extracted. From there, you will head for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park passing through the Ishasha sector where the famous tree climbing lions can be spotted. Check in at Gorilla Safari Lodge / Buhoma Lodge (Upmarket Accommodation) or Gift of Nature Lodge/ Chameleone Hill Lodge (Midrange accommodation) for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Gorilla trekking, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

After breakfast, you’ll go to the park headquarters for briefing before starting the gorilla tracking activity. You will like the whole experience though sometimes it may be strenuous walking in muddy conditions on hilly terrain and sometimes with rain. It takes between 6 to 8 hours depending on the availability of their food. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 13: Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park

Do breakfast and leave for Lake Mburo National Park passing through the rolling hills of Kigezi and Ankole, stop on the way for lunch then continue to reach the park in the afternoon. You will have a short game drive after which you will check into your lodge. Later, go for the boat cruise on Lake Mburo searching for wildlife like the hippos, crocks, Elands, Stantungas and monitor lizards among others. You will also see a variety of birdlife including the rare African Fin Foot. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge / Mantana Tented Camp (Luxury accommodation) or Arcadia cottages / Lake Mburo Safari Lodge (Midrange accommodation).

Day 14: Lake Mburo National Park – Kampala

Begin the day with a morning game drive in search of zebras, impalas, Reedbuck, CLiffspringers, Buffalos, Leopards and a variety of bird species that include the papyrus Gonolake. You will then go back to the lodge for breakfast then check out to leave for Kampala with en route lunch arriving early evening and if your flight is that evening, the driver will take you direct to the airport.
