8 days Rwanda Uganda safari

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kigali city, Rwanda.

When you arrive at the Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by one of our representative guide or driver who will drive you to your hotel for diner and the night.

Day 2:  Transfer to Akagera National Park.

After breakfast you will set off from Akagera National Park located in Eastern Rwanda where you will have lunch and take 30 minutes off unwinding by the poolside. You will then go for an after lunch game drive that will bring you to close proximity with a variety of wild animals and give you a chance to some wonderful photographs. You will head back to Akagera Game Lodge for an orientation and dinner.

Day 3:  Game drive in Akagera National park.

Following breakfast you will depart for game drive in the morning that will give you the opportunity to view numerous birds, hippos, spotted hyenas, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes and buffalos. after lunch you will enjoy a canoe ride on the spectacular lake Ihema up to the major Hippo Recreation place in Rwanda. During this ride, you will pleasure at the cool breeze and winds on the lake and also pride in the opportunity of riding alongside the large herds of hippos and the big Nile Crocodiles together with numerous birds. Dine and slumber at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

On having breakfast, you will drive to northwestern Rwanda towards Kinigi, having lunch on the way right in Kigali city. After that you will visit the memorial of the Genocide you will be narrated to survival stories and uplifting stories for hope recovery and hope building. This voyage will take you through the terraced hillsides which make up most of Rwanda’s terrain, slowly ascending to some remarkable volcanoes and at times seeing five peaks. In the evening, you will return to your lodge to interact with  one of the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project  veterinary who will gladly detail you about their current efforts in protecting/sheltering the Mountain Gorillas. you will enjoy cocktails and dinner with the veterinarians with whom you will share ideas, stories, challenges and their success in this wonderful work.

Day 5: Gorilla safari vacation Rwanda.

Following breakfast you will drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarters were you will find rangers, guides and many other trackers awaiting you to begin the activity. From there you will head for the slopes on the Virunga Volcanoes as you look for the Mountain Gorillas. it is rather important to note that out of the 5 resident families, just one habituated family will be seen, and the maximum number of individuals in a tracking group allowed at a time in a day is eight.so be certain of having ultimate pleasure as you head out for your voyage. This tracking is quite challenging and requires a lot of endurance together with time as you hike for close to 2 to 3 hours on the trail along the steep slopes. Dine and sleep at Virunga lodge  or Kinigi guest house.

Day 6: A visit to the African Gorilla Hero.

On having breakfast you will go to the burial site where Diana Fossey was buried next to the grave of her friend gorilla –Digit. This grave is situated at the previously Karisoke Research Center in which Diana worked for lose to Twenty years as she researched about these Mountain gorillas, and the walk to this site is quite impressive, trekking past the afro-montane haven and the bamboo forest. These trails are so much crisscrossed by elephants & buffalos. as we ascend to the Karisoke, you will be able to observe the behavior of many wild animals that inhabit  between the peaks of the Karisimbi volcanoes and Bisoke. On the other hand, you could unwind at the lodge, trek to view the golden monkeys which are facing extinction that also dwell in this area or go heck out the neighboring local communities.

Day 7: Second Gorilla safari vacation trek at Volcanoes National Park.

After breakfast you will have a second chance to trek the gorillas.you will visit the various groups that you missed out the first time. Then return and take a trip to the local market. You will enjoy a farewell dinner with the field staff of the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project.

Day 8: Virunga Lodge to Kigali, Rwanda.

Have the morning at you leisure, immersing in the beauty of this glorious place and contemplation on the wonderful adventurous week and then set yourself for your return journey. You may have lunch at this lodge all depending on your flight time and later head back to Kigali for your flight.
