6 days Rwanda chimps and wildlife safari

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nyungwe forest.

When you arrive at Kigali International airport, you will be accompanied to southern Rwanda to Nyungwe forest National Park a very exhilarating and impressive place, and on your there, you will visit the ancient palace found in Nyanza. Dine and slumber at Gisakura Guest House.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking safari and monkey viewing.

After having an early breakfast, you will proceed to Nyungwe Forest by 6:00am in search of chimpanzees and colobus monkeys and get the opportunity to see other residents of the forest such as butterflies, birds and reptiles. There are 14 primate species in this forest including big troops of the stunning colobus monkeys that are usually seen moving in groups of more than 300 monkeys, 26 are unique to the Albertine Rift valley only, more than 120 forest species, close to 285 avian species, and there are 43 reptile species of which 23 are endemic to this area, and over 30 amphibians. After lunch you may opt for an elective guided trek through the forest to get additional adventure. Dine and sleep at Gishakura Guest House

Day 3:  Transfer to Akagera National park for Evening game drive.

Today you will drive to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda at the border with Tanzania, which is endowed with a beautiful terrain with rolling plains dotted with thick woodlands characterized by broad leafs, and acacia woodland, together undulating grasslands composed of wide spread chains of lakes joined by papyrus-swamps resulting into an extensive wetland. Prior to dinner, have an evening game drive where you will be able to see numerous animals coming out in the open as they search for their evening meal. Dine and sleep at Akagera Game lodge.

Day 4: Game drives and boat trip on Lake Ihema

Set out on an early game drive in the morning which will include viewing hippos, buffalos, hyenas, elephants and giraffes in addition to other game and birds.  After returning and having breakfast, you will either spend some time at leisure or go for a canoe cruise on lake ihema in the after lunch hours. Later return to the lodge for dinner and slumber at the lodge.

Day 5: A full day city Tour in Kigali.

On having a hefty breakfast, you will the lodge for a tour through the capital Kigali to un veil the hidden adventure treasures and cultural gems such as the various historical sites that have been established’’ specifically  the museums, the genocide memorial to commemorate the thousands of people that lost their lives in Rwanda. Head back to the capital for dinner and the night in Milles Collines Hotel.

Day 6: Departure

After having breakfast, unwind at the lodge as you as you get ready for your flight back after having a scrumptious farewell lunch that will remain memorable to you whenever you reflect about the an African safari. Leave for the airport in time to catch your flight back home.
