2 days safari in Kibale National Park
Itinerary:
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will head for a westward 5-6hr drive to Fort Portal - Kibale Forest National Park. Expect this journey to be an interesting one as your English speaking driver will do his best so that you enjoy the journey through the Ugandan countryside. It is a scenic drive and once again you will be reminded why Uganda is the Pearl of Africa. Arrive at Fort Portal and continue toward Kibale Forest, one of the great African rainforest research reserves, is famous for the variety of primates and it is a known area for birds. Arrive at Kibale Forest in time for lunch, and prepare for the afternoon Bigodi walk. Dinner and overnight will be at Chimpanzee Forest View Guesthouse.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and nature walk
This morning, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on how to track the chimps. They live in communities of about 100 individuals; see how they behave and you will realize there is a lot we share in common with them. Check out more primates such as the golden monkey, olive baboons, red Colobus, white and black Colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey and blue monkeys. After, go back to the lodge for lunch from where you will go for a guided nature walk in Bigodi sanctuary (Magombe swamp). There is plenty of birdlife, butterflies and tree species. The Great Blue Turaco and Papyrus Gonolek are among the 137 bird species. You will then go back to the lodge for refreshments then check out and hit the road to Kampala.
