A 14 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari taking you through the premier safari destinations in both countries.
Along the great east African rift valley’s western arm, are the two African countries, Uganda and Rwanda, unified by green vegetation and verdant hills despite their very dissimilar landscapes. This tour will allow you enjoy different cultures of people together with the diverse African landscape experience. The tour will; engage you in trekking mountain gorilla that are facing extinction and having nature walks together with forest walks to view the biodiversity of the forests fully immersing you in Africa’s true nature. Encounter the exhilarating cultures and local traditions of the central African people. Trail the great River Nile in Uganda past the Murchison falls from where you will descend down to Rwanda- the country with a thousand hills along the length of the Albertine rift escarpment.
Day 1 – Entebbe / Kampala
Our representative will meet you at the Entebbe International Airport and take you to Ivys hotel or fairway hotel in Kampala.
Day 2 – Murchison Falls on the river Nile
Leave Kampala to the northwest after having breakfast to the Murchison falls National park and on your way stop over for a nature walk to see the unusual rhinos in the Ziwa Uganda rhino sanctuary. After having lunch in the town of Masind, proceed to the largest national park in Uganda with approximately 3.840Kms that was named after the spectacular falls on the elegant Victoria Nile. You will enjoy the remarkable view of the falls while standing at their peak. Dine and sleep at Red Chilli Rest Camp(B) or at Paraa Safari lodge(C). FB
Day 3 – The Boat Cruise on the Mighty River Nile
Following a very early breakfast, you will have a game drive and have some photos taken of buffaloes Giraffes, lions, waterbucks and Uganda kobs. If lucky you may also see leopards together with a diversity of birds. You will have lunch back at the lodge and thereafter continue to for an exciting launch cruise on the Nile up to the base of the great Murchison falls. This will give you a chance to view varios animals such as crocodiles and numerous hippos plus water birds. Drive back to the lodge where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 4- Shadow of the Mountains of the Moon
Drive after breakfast through the great western Rift Valley’s Albertine escarpment to the southwest from Murchison falls. Drive past Hoima and arrive at the Tooro kingdom’s capital, Fort Portal located in the shadows of the magical “mountains of the moon” -Rwenzori. In the afternoon after lunch continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park and on your way to Mweya safari lodge or Mweya hostel for dinner and overnight, enjoy the stunning scenery and seeing the wonderful sights as you drive to your lodge. This is a very long journey that may take close to eight hours. Dine and sleep at Mweya Hostel – (B) or the Mweya Safari Lodge – (C). FB
Day 5 – Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Set off early morning after a cup of coffee to the park’s northern region towards Lake George to see lots of birds and animals like buffalos, elephants, warthogs, lions and many more. Head back for breakfast at the lodge. After lunch, head to the Kazinga channel to pleasure in a 2hours launch cruise to enjoy the wonderful birdlife and various wild life. For the best savannah sunset and view of the rift in the evening, you will drive to the region with crater lakes in the later evenings. Dine and sleep at Mweya Hostel – (B) or the Mweya Safari Lodge – (C). FB
Day 6 – Track the habituated chimpanzees of Kyambura Gorge
Pack your breakfast and lunch after having some coffe, then drive to the 16km long and 100m deep Kyambura gorge on the rift valley for a forest walk in search of the habituated chimpanzees plus other primates. You will be provided with a walking stick by the rangers. Drive through the Kigezi’s cultivated and terraced hills to Lake Bunyonyi after the primates walk. Dine and sleep at Arcadia cottages or the splendid Ha buharo. FB
Day 7 – Lake Bunyonyi & Its Islands
Have a 2hours boat ride early after your breakfast to various islands on Lake Bunyonyi to discover the Bakiga culture’s sites, appreciating the scenery and birds viewing. Drive to the Parc national des Volcans’ gate in Ruhengeri in Rwanda before heading to Gorilla Nest Lodge(C) or the comfy Kinigi Guest House – (B) for dinner and to slumber. FB
Day 8 – Mountain Gorilla Tracking
You will enter the Parc National des Volcans a gorilla asylum whose tropical rainforested hills enclose the 5 Virunga Volcanoes. Dian Fossey, the biologist worked here until 1985 when she passed on. The trekking experience is a rewarding one though quite challenging. Carry packed lunch and adequate water with you. The primates’ movements in the natural environment will determine the time you spend in the forest. You will return at liberty to Ruhengeri for dinner and slumber at Gorilla Nest Lodge(C) or the comfy Kinigi Guest House – (B)
Day 9 – The Beach of Lake Kivu in Gisenyiing
After breakfast, you will head to a very pretty town on Lake Kivu’s beautiful shores called Gisenyi. Lake Kivu is Rwanda’s major water body. You will have incredible sights of the volcanoes as you go down into the escarpment to the lake. Relax on either the Serena Kivu –(C) or the Palm Beach Hotel /Stipp Hotel – (B). FB
Day 10 – Lake Kivu – Nyungwe Forest
Using the panoramic road that runs alongsive the lake, you will relocate to Nyungwe National Park after breakfast. Have lunch at Kibuye. Later arrive at the ORTPN Guest House or any other to have dinner and slumber. Alternatively, depart for Kibuye from Gisenyi on a boat for lunch, pleasure in the steering. FB
Day 11 – The Primates of Nyungwe National Park
You will enter and trek in Nyungwe forest after breakfast looking for several groups of Angolan Colobus monkeys or chimpanzee tracking. With a 1,000 sq kilometer dimension and amazingly concentrated verdant mountain vegetation, plus the unpolluted vast Nyungwe tropical forest you will be astonished. It habits 13 types of primates and more than 275 bird species. It is also a home for 100 different orchids. Remember to carry water and packed lunch. You will then return for dinner and sleep at the ORTPN Guest House or any other. FB
Day 12 – Kigali & the Culture of Rwanda
On your drive to Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali, after breakfast, stopover at the Murambi genocide memorial in Gikongoro for a tour then head to Butare for lunch. The Rwandan unique handicraft that cannot be found any were else in Africa can easily be found in Butare. The region also hosts the precious cultural museum and the largest university. You will have a break in your journey for a tour of Rwanda’s king royal palace in Nyanza called the Mwami.die and sleep at Hotel Gorillas/Chez Lando (B) or Kigali Serena Hotel (C). FB
Day 13 – Akagera National Park
Along the Tanzania, Rwanda border, you will find the Akagera National Park that you will head to after having breakfast. Have a game drive after lunch in the park. Also on the boat ride, you will see the giant Nile crocodile, birds and numerous hippos on Lake Ihema. The herds of game like Elephants, Giraffes, topi, lions, impalas and the Burchell’s Zebra and the over 425 bird species like the African jacana, shoe billed stock and the sacred ibis goliath heron, have made the park very famous. Dine and slumber at Akagera Game Lodge or the ORPTN Camp where you will have a wonderful view of lake Ihema.
Day 14 – Akagera National Park
As you exit the park in the early morning, you will have an exciting game drive via the Akagera Northward Trail. In the afternoon, you can either return to Uganda to dine and sleep at Agip Motel in Mbarara, or dine and sleep at Kigali Serena hotel or Hotel Gorillas/Chez Lando FB
